Celebrating Success: Luke Kendall Wins Gold at WorldSkills UK Electronic Security Systems Competition
We are thrilled to celebrate an incredible achievement by one of our talented learners, Luke Kendall, who has been crowned the Gold Medal Winner 🏅 at this year’s WorldSkills UK Electronic Security Systems competition! The final, held in Manchester, showcased the nation’s top talent, and Luke’s exceptional skill and dedication earned him the title of the UK’s top apprentice engineer in Electronic Security Systems.
A Journey of Dedication and Excellence
Luke’s journey is nothing short of inspiring. Starting his apprenticeship with Plymstock Security Systems Ltd in January 2022, Luke came to the field with no prior experience and even a fear of working with electricity. Through hard work, determination, and support from his colleagues at Plymstock and his training at The Focus Training Group in Plymouth, Luke has risen to national recognition.
Competing against 500 hopefuls from across the UK, Luke’s rigorous journey included:
- March 2024: Achieving success in an initial online exam.
- April 2024: Advancing through the semi-finals held at the NEC Birmingham during The Security Exhibition trade show.
- November 2024: Triumphing in the two-day final in Manchester to secure the Gold Medal.
Award-Winning Training Provider
This achievement is a proud moment for us at The Focus Training Group. As an award-winning training provider, this is our second national award in three weeks and marks the second time in two years that one of our Fire and Security apprentices has won at the WorldSkills UK competition.
