Level 3 Diploma in Children’s Learning and Development (Early Years Educator)
Level 3 Diploma in Children’s Learning and Development (Early Years Educator) is for learners who work in, or want to work with children in Early Years.
It will provide you with the right skills to enrich the life experience for children from birth right up to their first 5 years of age. Choose one of our early years educator courses today to provide a fulfilling career supporting in the early years of a child’s education.
This course will provide the opportunity to:-
- demonstrate competence as an Early Years Educator, Child Minder or Nursery Nurse.
- develop knowledge and skills related to the specified job roles in early years education.

It is a roll on roll off programme so you can start at anytime. The training will take place in your work setting and sessions can be carried out online.

- Understand emotional development and attachment in order to support transitions and significant events in the early years sector.
- Plan, lead and review play opportunities which support children’s learning and development.
- Safeguarding, protection and welfare of babies and young children in Early Years Settings.
- Support daily routines to meet babies and children’s physical care needs.
- Promote children’s speech, language, communication and literacy.
- Understanding the theories which underpin practice in the Early Years Sector.
- Support healthy lifestyles for children through hydration and nutrition.
- Promote the development of children’s mathematical skills.
- Use observation, assessment and planning to promote the development of children.
- Understand and engage in professional development.
The Details
Duration: 18 months with an additional 3 months to complete the End Point Assessment (EPA).
Cost: The apprenticeship is set at £7000 with a £350 + VAT employer contribution.
Employers employing an Apprentice aged 16-21 years old and employ less than 50 employees will receive full government funding and be exempt from paying the employer contribution.
Employers employing an Apprentice aged 16-18 years old will receive a £1,000 government incentive.
Classroom Delivery: One to one in the workplace and online sessions can be carried out.
On Programme Delivery
Functional Skills: Both maths and English are required at Level 2 or relevant GSCE results
Qualification: Level 3 Diploma in Children’s Learning and Development (Early Years Educator).
Assessment in the Workplace
Your designated Assessor/Trainer will visit you in the workplace to support the development of your on-programme portfolio and to complete your quarterly reviews. Training can be carried out within the workplace setting and online.

Gateway: On completion of the on-programme learning, the employer, training provider and learner will confirm that the apprentice is ready for the End Point Assessment.
Entry Requirements
- Have experience or working with key children, observations, activity planning, assessing and reviewing.
- To work in a setting which would support a visiting trainer assessing your skills in the workplace.
- To be in a position to carry out 8 hours of study per week to complete the knowledge aspects of the level 3 programme.
- To have the appropriate of level of literacy and numeracy.
- To have regular access to a computer.
- Have a genuine desire to succeed.
End Point Assessment (EPA)
- EPA assessment is an Observation of Practice and a Professional Discussion.
Grading
- Grading is an overall pass, must pass both elements in EPA and a distinction is 21/27 of the distinction. points in the professional discussion.
