FAA Award in Paediatric First Aid Course
Overview
This qualification is designed for learners with a responsibility for the care of children and babies on a professional level. The purpose of this qualification is for the learner to attain the knowledge and practical competence required to deal with a range of paediatric first aid situations.
Who is this course aimed at?
This qualification is intended for learners already working or preparing to work in the industry.
Learners are required to be 16 years of age prior to certification. It is also advised that learners have a minimum of level 1 in literacy to enable them to complete the assessment.
What topics will it cover?
- Understand the role and responsibilities of the paediatric first aider
- Be able to assess an emergency situation
- Be able to provide first aid for an infant or a child who are unresponsive
- Be able to provide first aid for an infant or a child who are choking
- Be able to provide first aid to an infant or a child with external bleeding
- Know how to provide first aid to an infant or a child who is suffering from shock
- Know how to provide first aid to an infant or a child with bites, stings and minor injuries
How long will the course take?
The course can be delivered across 2 days or 4 evenings.
When will I know if I’ve passed?
Results notified within 2 weeks, successful candidates will receive a Highfield accredited Level 3 certificate. Course certification lasts three years.
Is there an exam?
There is a practical observation that will be completed throughout the course delivery and a multiple-choice theory assessment.
