Domestic Gas Diploma Overview
This training course has been specifically designed to provide a route into the gas industry for candidates who have not previously undertaken Accredited Certification Scheme (ACS) Assessment.
The structured programme provides the ‘off site’ training that a candidate is required to successfully complete in order to qualify to undertake ACS gas assessments at our centre.
What topics will it cover?
- Gas safety legislation
- Pipework installation
- Pipework sizing
- Tightness testing
- Purging and re-establishing gas supplies
- Standing and working pressures
- Checking and setting gas appliance pressures
- Gas rating of appliances
- Combustion including the properties of natural gas and incomplete combustion
- Ventilation both for combustion and cooling purposes
- Flue types including open flue, balanced flue, concentric flue, u-ducts, se-ducts, communal flued systems and flued less appliances
- Unsafe situations
- Gas controls and safety devices
- De-commissioning and making safe appliances
Is there an exam?
A combination of both theory and practical examinations throughout the course. At the end of the course candidates will undertake three days of practical assessment and one day of theory.
What books will I need?
A candidate portfolio is supplied, as part of the course materials, in which learners record all ‘on the job’ and ‘off the job’ knowledge and experience to undertake the ACS assessments. A gas training book is also supplied.
How much will it cost?
£2,310+VAT per person
What’s Next?
Upon successful completion of the training programme, candidates will be issued a Gas Diploma certificate which will qualify him/her to undertake the ACS assessments, and then apply to Gas Safe for registration
