OFT 50 and Initial Assessment Overview

This practical training course will provide candidates with the knowledge, understanding and skills to undertake work on domestic oil installations including oil boilers and tankers.

Who is this course aimed at?

This course is aimed at new entrants to the oil fired heating industry to give an introduction to oil systems and installations.

After completing this course candidates can move on to the four main OFTEC training and assessments:

• OFT 101 – Commissioning and Servicing Domestic Pressure Jet Oil Fired Appliances

• OFT 102 – Commissioning and Servicing Vaporising Appliances

• OFT 105E – Commissioning, Servicing and Installation of Domestic Pressure Jet Oil Fired Appliances

• OFT 600A – Commissioning, Servicing and Installation of Oil Fuel Storage & Supply Systems

Pre-requisites

No previous experience is required, although basic plumbing skills would be advantageous.

  • Oil fired boiler safety requirements
  • Oil specifications
  • Oil boiler fuel efficiency
  • Flues and ventilation
  • Float control values and oil lifters
  • Oil burners – vaporising and pressure jet type
  • Burner control, start up and shut down sequence
  • Oil boiler servicing and commissioning procedures

OFTEC Books 1, 2, 3 & 4.
We supply loan copies during the course, however candidates wishing to register with OFTEC will need to purchase copies.
