Overview

This course is aimed at people who intend to use a chainsaw professionally, as part of their work and is an intensive course designed to familiarise you with how a chainsaw functions, how to maintain it, and also how to use it to cross cut timber.

What topics will it cover?

Engine maintenance

Air filter, spark plug and recoil starter (pull start)

Sharpening of the chain

Fuels and lubricants

Execution of cross cutting

Health & Safety

What topics will it cover?

We cover engine maintenance, air filter, spark plug, and recoil starter (pull start), sharpening of the chain, selection of fuels and lubricants and various techniques for the safe execution of cross cutting of timber. In addition, we deal with the selection and maintenance of personal protective equipment and some of the basic legal concepts associated with working with a chainsaw such as the Health & Safety at Work Act, and how it applies to us.

This course can be delivered as a standalone unit, or combined with Felling Trees up to 380mm.

How long will the course take?

2/3 DAYS

Two days training plus one day independent assessment where required.

Is there an exam?

The one day independent assessment can be organised for you if you require it and will be as close to the training days as we can make it.
