Recognising Excellence with Four Rising Stars from The Focus Training Group
The Focus Training Group is thrilled to share the remarkable achievements of four of our outstanding apprentices achieving finalists places at the Plymouth Apprentice of the Year Awards 2024, held on 8th February 2024.
Among our finalists was Ellie King, an Electrical Apprentice with LiveWest, whose dedication and hard work have rightfully earned her this recognition. Ellie’s commitment to excellence in her studies and apprenticeship truly exemplifies the spirit of determination and perseverance. Her tutor Darren states “Ellie, consistently demonstrates excellence in her studies. She approaches every task with determination and strives for her personal best. Recently, Ellie achieved the highest score in her year group on the science and principles exam, showcasing her dedication and proficiency in the subject”.
Josh Hughes, a Gas Apprentice working for Heybrook Heating Ltd, has also secured his place as a finalist, showcasing his unwavering dedication and excellence. Nominated by his tutor, Stephen Parkes, Josh’s remarkable performance and resilience make him a shining example of the next generation of skilled tradesmen. Stephen said ” Josh is always cheerful. He refuses to allow obstacles to derail his day. He actively supports his peers and trainers, displaying a proactive attitude by volunteering for tasks and consistently striving for excellence in both practical exams and written assessments. His commitment to assisting fellow apprentices in reaching their training objectives is commendable. Despite facing challenges early on, Josh has displayed remarkable resilience, both positive and negative, with a genuine desire to contribute to the learning of others. Without question, Josh is poised to become and outstanding tradesman”.
Lois Randle, a Business Administration Apprentice with Collins Aerospace, has been recognised for her exceptional growth and dedication, earning her place as a finalist. Lois’s positive attitude and commitment to learning have made her an invaluable member of her team. Her Tutor Paul said “‘once Lois found her feet her growth in both the role and the qualification excelled. She consistently took on more duties and accountability to become a pivotal member of the team. Her attitude to learning was exceptional with great depth and knowledge to her assignments. Lois excelled thanks a supportive employer and a positive attitude to learning and improve her role, the team and her prospects’.
Additionally, we are thrilled to announce that Dan Alford, an Electrical Apprentice working for MEC Ltd, has emerged as the winner of the Plymouth Apprentice of the Year Award. Dan’s outstanding performance, dedication, and commitment to his apprenticeship have rightfully earned him this prestigious accolade.
We are incredibly proud of Ellie, Josh, Lois, and Dan, as well as all of our apprentices who continue to excel in their respective fields. Their achievements are a testament to their hard work, dedication, and the unwavering support of their tutors and employers. Congratulations to all our finalists and winners.
