Accounts/Finance Assistant Apprenticeship Level 2 Standard

The AAT Accounts/Finance Assistant Apprenticeship Level 2, will enable you to acquire the essential accounting principles and foundational skills necessary to become a proficient accountant. This apprenticeship is designed specifically for individuals who have no prior experience in accountancy or bookkeeping. By enrolling in this program, you will not only gain a solid understanding of bookkeeping fundamentals but able to implement these learnt skills and behaviours in your everyday responsibilities.

This apprenticeship is particularly well-suited for individuals who are fresh graduates from school or college and are entering the workforce, as well as existing employees who have limited experience but aspire to enhance their skills in this role.

Also this apprenticeship provides valuable growth prospects for individuals currently employed in junior positions within an accountancy department or finance function. The Level 2 apprenticeship includes a mandated qualification, The AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting is one of the qualifications that’s been approved to use as part of the apprenticeship.

Career Progression

The journey of an apprentice extends beyond the completion of their apprenticeship, the next phase could involve advancing to our Level 3 Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship or Level 4 Professional Accounting program. These progressive pathways offer continued growth and development for apprentices, enabling them to further expand their knowledge and skills in the accounting field.

Job Roles

This apprenticeship is suitable for a wide range of roles including Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant, Accountants Administrator, Accounts Clerk, Trainee Accountant or Trainee Bookkeeper, but this list isn’t exhaustive.

One of the key things to success is that the job role provide the opportunities, support and relevant work based projects to be able to apply the apprentice’s learning back in the workplace, to gain real competency in that area.

The Details

Duration: 12 months with 3 months End Point Assessment (EPA) available from month 12.

Cost: The apprenticeship is set at £6000 with a £300 + VAT employer contribution.
Employers employing an Apprentice aged 16-21 years old and employ less than 50 employees will receive full government funding and be exempt from paying the employer contribution.

Employers employing an Apprentice aged 16-18 years old will receive a £1,000 government incentive.

Classroom Delivery: You will attend one day a week in our Plymouth training centre.

On Programme Delivery

Functional Skills: Both maths and English are required at Level 2 or relevant GSCE results.

Registration: for AAT, exams and text books.

Qualification: AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting.

Grading

  • A Pass is awarded for achievement of 70%.
  • A Distinction is awarded for the achievement of 90%.
